Our last session

During yesterdays session, we used all the skills that we've learnt over the last 4 weeks to record the ICT facilities that St Stephens Church Hall has to offer.

The hall has very recently had a state of the art computer suite installed which offers 10 computers with printing facilities.

The group took photos, recorded videos and wrote about the computer suite and St Stephen's Church Hall. XLWales will add this information to the St Thomas page on the website www.swanseaictmap.co.uk

This weeks lesson was split into two parts...

PART ONE

Formatting Text in Pocket Word

During the first part, we learnt how to change the apperance of the text in Pocket Word. We wrote our address' and changed each line e.g.

Powerpoint Quiz

In the second part of the lesson we had a mystery object quiz using powerpoint and excel. The object of the exercise was to practise swapping between different programs on the PDA. This is very hard to get to grips with. However, the group did very well and got most of the questions correct!

Lesson 3: Video & Sound

Very enjoyable session today. We learnt how to record sound and video. We discovered that Les wants to be a presenter on TV as he was so good! We watched some of our videos.
We will have a go at using our own phones to take video and sound now we have learnt how to do it.

Bluetooth Story

During this weeks lesson, the group learnt how to use Pocket Word. The software offers 3 different ways of inputting text. A built in keyboard, on screen keyboard and transcriber. Most of the lesson involved the group writing about themselves to see which technique they prefer.

To finish off the lesson we wrote a 'Bluetooth Story'. Each member of the group was given the beginning of a sentence. They then completed the sentence and sent it via bluetooth the the laptop. All the sentences were then put together to form the story.

Here is the groups story...

We went to London to see the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.

We went with the Queen and her Corgis.

We traveled by helicopter.

We sang happy songs and had a nice time.

We ate a free tin of dog food and it was OK te he.

We drunk some vodka and lost our way home.

We walked funny because we drank too much.

We saw the blue sky.

They wore T shirts and hats.

They smelt of cheese.

They said my goodness how the blinking heck are you.

I replied go away and leave me alone.

Our First Session

Today we had our first session learning how to use a PDA. We all played the game bubble breaker trying to get a high score!

The PDA's have a built in camera and we used it to take some pictures of us and the church hall. We enjoyed our first session and have learnt a few things about the PDA.
